CONNECTED TV - WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR PROGRAMME MAKERS?
by learn @rave - Monday, 8 March 2010, 06:58 pm

ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY LONDON CENTRE

17 MARCH - WEDNESDAY - 7.00 PM

CONNECTED TV
- WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR PROGRAMME MAKERS?

Connected (or broadband) TV has been talked about for years ... so why all the excitement now? Simply put, it is happening now!

It is the first point in Guaranteeing Access in the BBC's 'Quality First' - "Making internet connected television a reality and a success, and continuing to support other partnerships for free-to-air platforms". There are several key factors unique to the UK, which will lead to mass-market adoption of these devices. You may know it as Canvas, or HbbTV or D book V 7 or See-saw ... but it is coming all too soon as Britain's digital switchover will prompt millions of analogue video recorders to be replaced with broadband connected Freeview PVR devices before the Olympics in 2012.

But what does it mean for the content creators, owners and everyone else in the media food chain - ending with the viewer?

Speakers:

BILL SCOTT from EaselTv and BOB WALK from Novarising will be sharing their ideas and illustrate some of what is possible.
COST: FREE to RTS Members and non-members.
TIME: 7pm - Tea and Coffee from 6.30pm - The London Studios, Upper Ground, South Bank, London SE1 9LT. Waterloo is the nearest train and tube station.

Please register at E-mail:
